Stu Venable was born in Long Beach, California. He wasted much of his youth playing tabletop role-playing games. This began his obsession with world building and character stories.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in political science.
He worked as an associate editor, writer and proofreader at McDonnell Douglas until the Cold War ended.
Around that time, he began working the Renaissance Pleasure Faire as a singer. He soon established a band with his then roommate. This band, the Poxy Boggards, has delighted and shocked audiences since 1994 and is still going strong today.
In 2009 he began a table-top RPG podcast, called Happy Jacks RPG Podcast. This weekly podcast has gained an audience of thousands. He is still very active in the RPG hobby and runs weekly games to this day.
He wrote his own table-top RPG, called Moment of Truth, his first published work.
In addition to writing and RPGs, Stu is an experienced recordist. He’s recorded many of the CDs his band has released, as well as the CDs of a few other bands.
Stu has two children and two dogs. He aspires to own a mansion and a yacht (that’s a Loony Tunes reference, by the way, and he would never own a boat or a house that required a household staff).
In 1983, Stu attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. In 2009, one of the songs he penned was contracted for a Super Bowl commercial (it’s the Levis/Dockers ad if you wish to Google it).
